Florida Innovation Collaborative (FLiC) Pioneers Revolutionary Workforce Development Program with Transfr VR Headsets

Cutting-edge VR technology transforms education and career paths for underserved communities

Pensacola, FL  —Florida Innovation Collaborative (FLiC) announces the launch of a groundbreaking workforce development program in collaboration with Transfr, utilizing state-of-the-art virtual reality (VR) headsets. This innovative initiative integrates immersive career exploration and skill development modules to cater to the specific needs of diverse communities.

FLiC’s partnership with Transfr delivers classroom-to-career pathways, empowering the next generation for lucrative roles across various industries. Through hands-on, simulated trainings facilitated by a digital coach, participants gain critical skills for high-demand jobs, receiving expert, personalized instruction, specific feedback, and performance assessments.

Transfr’s software enhances the learning experience by tracking individual progress, time spent, and mastery levels per simulation and module. This data seamlessly updates to the Instructor Dashboard, employing customized scoring to foster mastery through repeated actions and skills, with weights assigned based on importance or difficulty.

FLiC’s program features two distinct learning tracks: the Virtual Training Facility (VTF) focuses on essential skills for well-paying jobs, while the Career Exploration Facility (CEF) showcases diverse career paths. With over 275 simulations in the VTF and 23 career clusters in the CEF, the program aligns with industry standards and national credentialing bodies like OSHA.

What sets FLiC’s program apart is its 100% mobile design, ensuring widespread accessibility to underserved communities. Portable VR headsets, equipped with a built-in digital instructor named Simon, offer individualized coaching and standardized training in any Wi-Fi-enabled space, eliminating the need for additional supplies. This aligns with academic Career and Technical Education (CTE) curricula and includes comprehensive support like staff onboarding training, ongoing technical assistance, and career placement/skills mastery tracking.

The ongoing project proposes quarterly cohorts to accommodate both new users and past participants requiring additional time for skill mastery. Recognizing the integral connection between workforce development and job placement, FLiC plans to collaborate with local employers and industry leaders to expand locations based on demand, showcasing the program’s adaptability to shifting industry dynamics, trends, and technological advancements.

FLiC and Transfr’s collaboration is poised to revolutionize workforce development, providing equitable access to education and career opportunities in underserved communities.
