FLiC & Transfr: A Synergistic Team

FLiC has strategically formulated a workforce development program that revolves around the acquisition and implementation of Transfr virtual reality (VR) headsets. These cutting-edge devices come equipped with built-in career exploration and skill development training modules and are easily customized to meet the workforce development needs of a community.

FLiC delivers Transfr’s classroom-to-career pathways, orchestrating the training of the next generation of workers for well-paying jobs across various industries. The immersive learning experiences offered through hands-on, simulated trainings impart critical skills for in-demand jobs, facilitated by a digital coach. This coach provides expert, personalized instruction, offering specific feedback and assessing performance, ensuring trainees gain real-world experience in the necessary skills.

The software goes a step further by tracking individual progress, time spent, and mastery levels per simulation and module. This data is seamlessly updated to the Instructor Dashboard, utilizing customized scoring to foster mastery through repetition of actions and skills, with assigned weights based on individual importance or difficulty.

FLiC's Program: A 2-Part Model

FLiC ‘s program introduces two distinct learning tracks: the Virtual Training Facility (VTF) and the Career Exploration Facility (CEF). The VTF’s hands-on simulations teach essential skills for well-paying jobs, while the CEF showcases diverse career paths. Each lesson meticulously replicates existing workplace environments in VR, mimicking all facets, equipment, and potential daily scenarios faced by employees.

The VTF boasts over 275 simulations organized by discipline, with some modules applicable across multiple disciplines. For instance, the Precision Measurement module, with 21 simulations, is pertinent to numerous disciplines. All VTF skills align with industry standards and national credentialing bodies like OSHA. Simultaneously, the CEF spans 23 career clusters, specifying simulations correlated to specific occupations, such as Manufacturing, Skilled Trades, Warehousing & Storage, Hospitality & Tourism, Public Safety, and Automotive (with healthcare simulations in development).

FLiC's Mobility: Unlimited Access

What sets FLiC’s program apart is its 100% mobile design, ensuring widespread accessibility to communities in need. The alignment of FLiC ‘s program design with Transfr’s model signifies a commitment to equity by enhancing access to educational opportunities often unavailable in rural, low-income, or underserved communities. FLiC s program shatters barriers by providing portable VR Headsets with a built-in digital instructor, Simon. Simon offers individualized coaching and standardized training to all students, transforming any Wi-Fi-enabled space into a training facility. This feature eliminates the need for industry supplies/equipment, aligns with the academic Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum, and includes comprehensive support such as staff onboarding training, ongoing technical support, and career placement/skills mastery tracking.

The ongoing project proposes quarterly cohorts of program participants, accommodating both new users and past participants needing additional time for skill mastery.

Recognizing the integral connection between workforce development and job placement, FLiC is set to collaborate with local employers and industry leaders to expanding locations based on demand, showcasing the program’s adaptability to shifting industry dynamics, trends, and technological advancements.
